Zillion (Sherston)

Zillion was my first project on leaving full time teaching, so it was important. The idea was to try and organize an adventure that would take in some of the more difficult experiments and concepts children had to deal with at the top of the primary school. It was also my first attempt to tie in directly to the national curriculum (spit!). Again originated on a BBC B I had a really great time working out how to sort out the sheer amount of graphics and programs required to run it and it eventually ended up on three discs.

It managed to cover stuff like acidity, pitch, the Solar System, genetics, electric circuits and so on. The best bit for me was the plant growth section. Here the kids have to adjust environmental factors to make plants grow. Designing the plants (alien plants of course) and the way they would grow took me into the realms of fractals and I spent far too long messing about with different ideas to get it right. Dave Baxter again did some brilliant poster and cover art for the packaging.
